Philos Athens
Concept Design, Layout, Lighting Design
“Philos Athens” is an example of the real beauty that time adds to the materials and surfaces. An art piece, built in 1937 and surviving until today, turned into a contemporary multifunctional café featuring an open-plan kitchen, hosting not only art exhibitions and actions but also unique pieces from all over the world.
It proved to be much more difficult to build all the operational and lighting facilities without damaging the walks and roof – which remained intact, together with the floor and the stairs, thus revealing their charm of the past.
As a sign of respect to the architecture of the past, the only actions took place with the aim of preserving the atmospheric and noble essence of the building. Lighting design sets the tone in a scene where the protagonists are the untold stories of the past.
